If you would like to create an animated (scrolling) bottom screen, continue to Step 3 otherwise, skip to Step 4. The red areas are areas that will be covered by the 3DS's icons, however, none of these areas are semi-transparent. Step 2: As before, create or import the image you want to use as the background image for the top screen. Step 1: Open the file Real Bottom.PSD in Photoshop. As the top screen is now finished, I would recommend putting the PNG file in its own folder, and then later you can put all of the finished elements of the theme into that same folder. Turn the placement layer off (but leave the white background on), and then save the image as a PNG file. Import the image you just saved previously and place it in the top left of the image, where the placement layer is.
Step 5: Now open the file Full Top.PSD in Photoshop. (You can also use a JPEG, but it will probably compress the image in undesirable ways and won't look quite the same once it's on the 3DS.) Step 4: Once the top screen image is done, make sure to make the overlay layer invisible and then save the image as either a BMP or a PNG. The blue areas are areas that are visible when the 3D effect is turned on, but can't be seen when the 3D effect is off. Note that some icons are actually semi-transparent and some are not visible all the time (such as the camera and screenshot icons), so don't leave those areas blank. The red areas in the PSD file are areas that will be covered by the 3DS's icons. Step 3: Create or import the image you want to use as the background image for the top screen. Step 2: Open the file Real Top.PSD in Photoshop.
If you don't have Photoshop, you can also download them as PNG files here. Step 1: Download these PSD templates I created and then extract them from the archive.

For instructions on how to access The Homebrew Launcher, visit this site. If you'd like to apply a theme on your 3DS, you'll need access to The Homebrew Launcher, or CFW. What do I include in a theme request? all requests should have a general idea of what the theme should be (A franchise, character, or logo), they may include the Images, Music, Folder Icons, or sound effects, it is not required but the more details you supply the closer it will be to what you want, alternatively you can just give a general idea and say "Surprise me" and give the theme creator creative control. However, if you would like to submit a post which is only a link with no description, we won't stop you simply place the link in a self post. Why can't I submit a link post directly? This is to encourage the discussion and description of theme files, and to avoid having links to theme files which need to be downloaded blind and then previewed only once they're downloaded. Having said that, reuploading a theme and claiming it as your own is definitely not encouraged. It can often be difficult to identify the higher quality themes from the the lower quality themes on sites like that, and linking to them can be very helpful in helping people find themes. We also don't want to impose restrictions for official Nintendo themes and then not impose restrictions to user-made themes, as that would be hypocritical.Ĭan I link to custom themes made by other people? Yes, linking to themes that you like found on sites like 3dsthem.es is allowed and encouraged. We don't want to stop users from creating themes based on their favorite video games or other commercial media. Why do you allow the pirating of commercial images and audio on this subreddit? If all piracy was restricted on this subreddit, then that would impose on users' creative access.
We don't think we should be the ones to decide if others want to partake in piracy or not we want it to be the decision of the individual, not ours. Why are there official Nintendo themes on this subreddit? Isn't that piracy? Yes, technically distributing the theme files from Nintendo's official theme shop is a form of image and audio piracy, but so is downloading a commercial image for a computer wallpaper. Specify if the theme has a scrolling top screen.ĬHHM2 supports SMDH files for description and icons, please specify if your theme includes one. Specify if the theme has an animated lower screen. Specify if the theme's custom music loops. This is just a recommendation, but not compulsory. RECOMMENDED INFORMATION FOR SELF POST THEMES See the FAQ for the reasons as to why this is. This is not the place to discuss piracy read the FAQ for information about the subreddit's stance on piracy.Ħ.
